Wet Spot Problem – When Out With Nature

Being outdoors with nature is a great experience to have. Whether it is going on picnics or hikes, nature is such a beautiful sight to see. Squirrels running around gracefully, bees flying from flower to flower, streams of water flowing, you name it. These natural phenomena can be quite therapeutic.

As beautiful as nature can be, there are still some things that are not perfect about it. There may be some inconveniences that might arise for you.

Something You Might Run Into

Have you ever been on a hike and just wanted a quick spot to rest? We all did. You are superhuman if you didn’t. It is tiring to go the entire path without taking a quick break. When exhausted, you will try to find the nearest, safest spot to sit. This is a natural response for one to have.

Depending on the weather conditions though, many of the surrounding spots might be wet. If you are lucky, you might encounter a “not as wet” rock or log and be able to sit on that. Hopefully you have some waterproof pants on. If not, you might end up having to stand the entire time.

Or perhaps you are on a picnic. You might want a shady spot away from the hot sun. Unfortunately, that spot may also be wet. Not going to be a fun experience to be eating something while your bottom is soaking up water.

So, what can you do? Here is something you can try using.

Product You Can Try

You can purchase something like a pocket-sized blanket. Although it may look small and compacted, do not be fooled by its small packaging. This blanket can spread out to be 55 inches by 60 inches. When folded up, it is about 3 inches by 4 inches. You can fit about 4 people on each blanket. Have each person bring additional blankets if you need more room or have a larger group.

Just lay the blanket over your ideal spot. It is waterproof so water will not leak between the fibers of the blanket. Therefore, you can sit during your hike or enjoy your meal on grass without getting wet.

Additionally, this pocket-sized blanket is sand proof. This means you can go on your beach trips without having to worry about sand slipping through the gaps like with a regular blanket.

When Not in Use

When you are finished with using the blanket, you can just fold it up for later use. There should be folds that help guide you how to fold. If not, you can just keep folding it in half 5 or 6 times. The last fold may be difficult, so instead of folding, you can also roll it up. This should allow the blanket to be small enough to fit into its bag.

Being with nature can be a great experience to partake in. Although amazing, there are sometimes conditions that can prevent you from enjoying your time. One of these obstacles are the wet grounds. But you can prevent all that by equipping yourself with a pocket-sized blanket that is both waterproof and sand proof. Hope you can enjoy your nature adventures without any hindrances!

Thank you for finding something like this! I hear “wet spot” problem and I think something totally different, haha.

I don’t go for nature walks, but I have a cousin who does; she invites me out all the time, and I think I’d like to surprise her by being prepared for this sort of thing.

    • Hello there! I didn’t realize it was an issue until I encountered it myself a couple times. I sometimes don’t even up the blanket all the way, just enough for me to sit down. Hope this tool helps you with your nature walks when you do go with your cousin some time!

  2. Hi Mike,

The pocket-sized blanket sounds like an ideal product to have.  I walk daily with my dog, and sometimes I need a break, but I don’t want to sit on the ground because I don’t want to get wet or dirty.  I didn’t even know such a product existed!  I like that it folds up to a compact size and that it’s waterproof.  What a great idea, thank you for highlighting this product.  I definitely need it.

    • Hello there! That is very true, you really feel that sense of inner peace when having what you need whenever you need it. I never thought of taking a nap during hiking but that does sound like a neat thing to do. The blanket would help with that.
