Strategy for Consuming Less Sugars
The trick to eating fewer sugars is to do so SLOWLY and GRADUALLY. To cut it out completely very quick would lead to a rebound effect. This would cause you to eat more than you normally do which defeats the whole goal of consuming fewer sugars.
If you have been eating a lot of cookies, try looking into more whole grain options like oatmeal cookies. If you have been eating 10 pieces of candy daily, try reducing to 8 pieces or so every few weeks.

You can also try these candy substitutes of the popular brands like Sour Patch kids, Swedish Fish, etc. What’s great about them is the significant reduction in the amount of sugars. Depending on the brand, there can be up to a 90% reduction in the amount of sugars.
Still, it doesn’t mean you should go all out and have an excuse to eat more of this candy. Still continue to apply the principle of eating fewer sugars slowly and gradually.
Know that in the beginning of your sugar cutting phase, it will feel terrible. You may have some feelings of anxiety and want to eat what you normally do. But remember that these feelings are only temporary.
In a few weeks, your body will start to change and you will start feeling better. You will have fewer cravings for sugar and you will feel more energetic. Always focus on the goal and not on the temporary hardships that come along the way.
If you can, find an accountability partner. It helps significantly when you have someone else who is enduring the same hardship and who wants to achieve the same goal as you.
